PEOPLE OF JADERKA: Sebastián Babor

My name is Sebastián Babor and I’m a student at FNSPE. I am studying Physical Engineering, specialising in plasma physics and thermonuclear fusion.

I enrolled at Jaderka because I wanted to study plasma; I was already interested in the field during secondary school and even wrote a research paper on the topic.

A big advantage was that I was accepted without entrance exams. It meant I could relax after my finals—all I had to do was take Physics as one of my Maturita subjects and show my certificate to the Student Affairs Department.

Outside of Jaderka, I enjoy going to the gym, playing the bass guitar, and playing video games.

Is Jaderka a challenging faculty? Absolutely. But on the other hand, you learn so many things here, from programming to advanced mathematics and physics—you just have to choose your path.

And if you realise the programme you are studying isn’t for you, it’s quite easy to change. I’d say anyone can find their place at Jaderka. The main obstacle, however, is the sheer amount of effort you have to put in to finish your degree.

What I enjoy most are the events organised at the faculty, from student lectures with pizza to the pub quizzes. There is something for everyone, but the best event by far is "Night at Jaderka"—a friendly atmosphere, lectures from well-known figures, and above all, plenty of beer and fun.
