Tereza is studying a follow-up master’s programme at the Department of Laser Physics and Photonics. She plays futsal at the top level, but most importantly: she is always smiling and spreading good vibes! What she appreciates most about FNSPE is the famous "family atmosphere" and the way theory is linked with practice. She also helps out a lot with faculty promotion; you can often find her at Open Days or at the CTU stand "hunting" for new students at recruitment fairs.
- Why did you enrol at Jaderka?
Ever since I was a child, I’ve enjoyed maths, physics, and PE. In primary school, the idea once crossed my mind that being a scientist wouldn't be bad, but for a long time, I actually had no idea how to become one or what was required. I assumed that I’d eventually find a more "ordinary" profession at secondary school, but that never happened—my three favourite subjects stayed exactly the same. When choosing a university, I tried to find something that combined all three, but I couldn't find a perfect match. I eventually prioritised physics and kept sport as a hobby. I discovered FNSPE completely by accident—to be honest, I didn't even know such a faculty existed within CTU, let alone that you could study subjects other than nuclear physics there. Initially, I felt some uncertainty about my level of knowledge and the prospect of moving across the country. But after visiting an Open Day and stepping into the building for the first time, I knew it was the right choice. I decided to take the plunge, and to this day, I wouldn't change a thing.
- Would you recommend studying at Jaderka? And who do you think it is not for?
I would definitely recommend it. The faculty offers a wide range of programmes in maths, physics, chemistry, and informatics, so any science enthusiast can find their ideal path. Studying here develops you in every sense and provides a solid foundation for a future career. Even though the studies are demanding, it’s precisely that challenge that allows students to push their boundaries and gain vital life skills.
For those who have a passion for science, love a challenge, and aren't afraid of taking big steps forward, Jaderka is the perfect choice. The key to success is not giving up, even when the work requires significant time and effort. I also recommend keeping up with hobbies like sport, music, or reading—they really help you maintain your mental well-being and stay balanced.
On the other hand, I wouldn't recommend Jaderka to those who aren't interested in the natural sciences or aren't willing to put in the necessary time and effort.
- What do you enjoy about the faculty and what is there to do here?
I love the way theory is put into practice. It’s great that students can try everything out in specialised laboratories directly on-site. It makes the lectures much more engaging and helps you understand complex problems more quickly. Plus, the atmosphere is amazing thanks to the wonderful professors and the close-knit environment, which often leads to life-long friendships.
- Do you take part in any activities outside of Jaderka?
Yes, I play futsal and volleyball for the faculty sports team, Tralalalala. I also play in the women's first division of the futsal league for the Technika Praha team and have represented CTU in university competitions several times. When I’m not playing sports, I like to help the faculty’s PR department and the Tralalalala team, where I previously served as an executive officer. When I need a break from everything, I like to read, watch a good film, or just head out into nature.
- What is life like at FNSPE?
Student life at FNSPE is very vibrant and diverse. Things definitely stay lively after lectures because there are so many social and sporting events—it’s a great way to make new friends, have fun, and unwind.
