Researchers from the Department of Physics successfully represented the Faculty at Hard Probes 2026, one of the world's most prestigious conferences in high-energy nuclear physics, held at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Five scientific presentations, including an invited plenary lecture by Dr. Barbara Antonina Trzeciak and a contributed oral presentation by PhD student Ing. Ondřej Lomický, showcased the Department's latest research results to the international scientific community.
FNSPE CTU was represented by five scientific presentations covering both experimental and theoretical research. Three posters were presented by two PhD students, Subhadip Pal, MSc. and Ing. Josef Bobek, and by postdoctoral researcher Dr. Gabriel Dale-Gau. PhD student Ing. Ondřej Lomický was selected to give a contributed oral presentation, reflecting the high scientific quality of his work within the STAR experiment, in a highly competitive international field.
A particular distinction was the invited plenary talk delivered by Dr. Barbara Trzeciak, who presented the latest scientific highlights from the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at Brookhaven National Laboratory, USA. Invited plenary lectures are among the conference's highest-profile presentations and recognize researchers with broad expertise and an established international reputation in their field.
The conference provided an excellent opportunity to present recent scientific results from research carried out at the Department, strengthen existing international collaborations, establish new scientific contacts, and discuss future projects with colleagues from leading research institutions worldwide. The strong participation of our students and early-career researchers also reflects the Department's active role in educating the next generation of scientists while contributing to major international experiments in high-energy nuclear physics.
