How are nuclear reactor accident scenarios assessed, and what requirements must emergency core cooling systems meet? The four-day intensive course Accident Analysis and Regulation, Emergency Core Cooling System and Regulation will provide an insight into the technical and regulatory aspects of these key areas of nuclear safety.
The course will be led by Young Seok Bang from FNC Tech, Republic of Korea, an expert with extensive experience in nuclear safety, thermal-hydraulic analysis, and accident analysis. He spent more than 30 years at the Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS), where his work included deterministic accident analysis and code validation. As an expert and lecturer, he has also contributed to international training programmes and IAEA workshops.
During the course, participants will explore Emergency Core Cooling Systems (ECCS), related regulatory requirements and technical standards, as well as the fundamentals of nuclear reactor accident analysis. The programme will also draw on real-world regulatory experience and include auditing calculations.
The course will take place 13–16 October 2026, daily from 10:00 to 13:00, at the FJFI building at V Holešovičkách 2, Prague 8, room L-125. The course will be taught in English and participation is free of charge.
Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate of completion.
