The Department of Nuclear Chemistry FNSPE CTU in cooperation with the Czech Society of Nuclear Medicine cordially invites you to an extraordinary faculty colloquium, which will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 from 2:30 p.m. in auditorium B-103 (Břehová 7, Prague 1, 1st floor). The guest will be one of the world's most important experts in nuclear medicine, doctor and scientist, prof. Abass Alavi, with a lecture on: Novel PET tracers for potential clinical applications in medicine. Come and listen to his experiences from the pioneering period of NM and his view of the future!

Prof. Abass Alavi is a doctor and scientist of Iranian origin, working at the American University of Pennsylvania. He has been professionally engaged in the field of nuclear medicine all his life and is among the pioneers of the clinical use of positron emission tomography (PET), which has a major impact on health care, especially in oncology. He was part of the group that was the first in the world to use the radioactive investigational substance (radiopharmaceutical) 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose to display the distribution of the intensity of metabolism in the organism. This examination has become an irreplaceable part of modern diagnostics of cancer and some inflammatory diseases.
