Under the acronym NCC, there is now the headquarters of the Czech–Korean Nuclear Collaboration Center between KINGS University and CTU, which we officially opened in the FNSPE CTU building on Trojanova Street in Prague on Tuesday, 9 September 2025. Professors, researchers and students from Korea will have professional facilities through the NCC for preparing work and lectures during their stay here. Complete photo gallery is HERE. “Nuclear research and education in Korea are at a top level, so the transfer of knowledge from our Korean partners is enormously valuable for us. By opening the center we will help not only in sharing information, but also in the exchange of students and staff,” adds Dr. Jan Rataj, Head of the Department of Nuclear Reactors at FNSPE CTU.

The event was attended by leading specialists from Czech and Korean companies and institutions; opening remarks were delivered by: the Acting President of KINGS, Prof. Hak-kyu Lim; the Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Lukáš Vlček; the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Czech Republic, Mr. Youngki Hong; the National Security Adviser from the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic, Mr. Tomáš Pojar; the Dean of the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering at CTU in Prague, Assoc. Prof. Václav Čuba; and the Executive Vice President of KNA, Mr. Min Cheol Lee.

After lunch, a panel discussion followed on the opportunities of the newly opened center and on technology and knowledge transfer.

Together with our Korean partners, we presented the goals and possibilities of the Czech–Korean Center for Nuclear Cooperation (NCC) and the overall Czech–Korean collaboration in the nuclear field. Representatives of CTU and KINGS also signed an addendum to the memorandum of cooperation between the two universities, expanding the number of student and staff exchanges and formally defining the functions and competencies of the NCC.

About NCC

The Czech-Korean Nuclear Collaboration Center (NCC) is a support and coordination hub established to strengthen academic and institutional collaboration.
 
By enhancing education at the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering, NCC plays an active role in preparing globally connected professionals in nuclear science for the future. It promotes study and research opportunities in Korea, assists Czech students preparing for academic exchange, and provides professional support for visiting Korean scientists and experts – including office space and administrative services. 
 
Through academic events, lectures, and long-term teaching programs, the Centre fosters meaningful bilateral initiatives and contributes to the integration of Korean expertise into domestic nuclear education.
