About the programme
The Mathematics Education for Secondary Schools master’s study programme is intended for students interested in becoming highly skilled and inspiring teachers. The programme combines pedagogy, psychology, and didactics, with an emphasis on teaching mathematics in the context of the natural sciences. The part-time form of study allows students to integrate their education with teaching at secondary schools or with other study programmes. We offer an individual approach to our students, opportunities to work with gifted students, and involvement in organizing competitions such as the Mathematical Olympiad, Students’ Professional Activities (SPA), and Pangea.
Programme content
Students will attend core courses focused on:
-
mathematics didactics,
-
applications of higher mathematics in school education,
-
direct experience in schools.
Career prospects
Graduates can pursue careers as mathematics teachers at all types of secondary schools. A significant part of the study programme consists of practical experience, including teaching preparation, observing classes, and reflective practice. We aim to train teachers who are not just theorists, but are ready to teach.
State final Exam
Compulsory subjects
Teaching Propedeutics (Psychology in the Education Process, General Pedagogy, General Didactics)
Field Didactics (Didactics of Mathematics I and II)
Why choose us?
- We don’t teach mathematics, but mathematic education – how cognitive processes work and how to effectively develop students’ mathematical thinking
- We emphasize the sciences – connecting mathematics with application in physics and chemistry, drawing on FNSPE’s many years of experience in these fields.
- We actively support talented students - they take part in organizing the Mathematical Olympiad, supervising projects for the SPA, and creating problems for the Pangea competition.
- Our part-time study programme can be attended alongside doctoral studies, or a full-time master’s study programme.
- At FNSPE, you can study teaching and already teach at a secondary school.
- We approach students individually and in a friendly atmosphere.
