The Science and Research Department manages all agendas concerning FNSPE research activities and all the agendas related to doctoral study programmes. The department falls under the Vice-Dean for Science and Research’s competency.

Department competencies by order of the Dean:
- processing analyses and statements in the science and research field,
- preparing background documents for the Scientific Board and organising its meetings,
- managing the doctoral study agenda,
- managing the agenda concerning the State Doctoral Exam, dissertation defence and graduation,
- preparing background documents for the Scientific Board, managing the habilitation and professorial appointment procedures, processing and registering scientific results for FNSPE,
- managing the habilitation and professorial appointment procedures,
- drafting regulations issued by the Dean or Vice-Deans concerning doctoral studies and scientific research activities, monitoring compliance with existing regulations,
- coordinating preparations and implementations of scientific research projects for all providers,
- registering FNSPE patents and utility models, providing support for patent application process,
- registering FNSPE scientific research results into the V3S component and coordinating their fulfilment,
- managing the agenda concerning awards for doctoral studies and science and research,
- providing support for academic book publishing and communicating with the CTU Publishing House,
- providing support for technological scouting, commercialising research results, cooperating with the InQBay CTU incubator and transferring technologies, facilitating spin-off and licence sales (in cooperation with the Development Department),
- managing the agenda of emeritus professors,
- preparing background documents for the FNSPE and CTU Annual Report in Scientific Research,
- managing study report in the KOS database for doctoral study programmes,
- cooperating with corresponding CTU Rectorate departments in all the above mentioned competencies.
