The faculty provides higher education through full-time, structured study programmes. The standard duration of study is 3 years for a bachelor’s programme (concluding with the Bc. title), 2 years for a follow-up master’s programme (concluding with the Ing. title), and 4 years for a doctoral programme (concluding with the Ph.D. title). The main forms of study are lectures, seminars, professional internships, and consultations. Studies are completed with a state final examination, combined with the defence of a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral thesis. These theses are of a creative nature, and their preparation and development take place in direct connection with specific tasks from professional practice. The faculty also organises lifelong learning for the public and professional training for researchers.
In all fields, scientific research activity is developed alongside the teaching of new knowledge. Students’ professional work is connected to specific issues from practice (e.g., IBM, ČEZ, Czech National Bank, Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine) or research centres (CERN, JINR, ELI, ITER, etc.). There is therefore a close link between scientific and pedagogical work: students’ direct involvement in research programmes and their preparation for modern, collaborative forms of scientific work give teaching a unique dimension.
Students also have the opportunity to participate in foreign internships, exchange programmes, or to study long-term in other countries with financial support from CTU or dedicated foundations. Erasmus and Extatic programmes are available at CTU, and students can also apply for scholarships from the Hlavka Foundation or through various FNSPE projects.
