about the programme
The Plasma and Thermonuclear Fusion Physics follow-up master’s study programme combines physics, engineering, and modern technologies with the aim of preparing future experts to address the challenges of controlled thermonuclear fusion. Students learn both the theoretical and experimental fundamentals of plasma physics and gain experience at the unique educational tokamak GOLEM, or through collaboration with research facilities such as the COMPASS tokamak. The programme is closely connected internationally, thanks to the faculty’s involvement in the coordinated European fusion research programme within EURATOM.
programme content
Students will attend core courses focused on:
- Physics of inertial fusion, tokamaks, and material physics
- plasma theory and plasma diagnostics
- computational simulations.
career prospects
Graduates of the programme can pursue careers in research or industry—from the development of fusion reactors to applications in ecology, medicine, or materials engineering. Thanks to the programme’s interdisciplinary scope and its combination of deep theoretical knowledge with practical skills, graduates can find employment as technicians and research staff in the Czech Republic as well as abroad.
