About the programme
The Technical-Physical programme in Nuclear Engineering prepares students for work in the fields of nuclear energy, radiation protection, and technologies involving ionizing radiation. The programme combines mathematics and informatics with nuclear physics, nuclear technologies, radiation protection, and energy-related research. The instruction combines theory with practice – students participate in professional excursions and laboratory exercises. Students often write their bachelor’s theses in cooperation with external research institutions or industrial partners.
The optional course offer enables further focus in three specialisations:
Applied Physics of Ionizing Radiation (AFIZ)
using ionizing radiation in industry, research and heritage conservation, it’s effect on the work environment and the environment, detection and dosimetry, radiation protection
Nucelar Reactors (JR)
designing, operation and maintenance of nuclear facilities from neutron physics, through construction and operation of reactors, to fuel cycle and nuclear security
Radioactivity in the Environment (RZP)
computer processing of data and monitoring the radiation situation, analysing the effect of radioactive substances on the environment, radioactive waste and storage, protection from radiation and radon problems
Programme content
Students will attend core courses focused on:
- detectors of ionizing radiation,
- radiation protection,
- reactor physics.
