PHOTOS: 35th Anniversary of the Nuclear Reactor VR-1

In 2025, our first fission nuclear reactor, VR-1, celebrates its 35th anniversary. For organizational reasons, this year’s celebration took place on October 8 (VR-1 originally reached its first critical state on December 3, 1990, at 4:25 p.m.). Instead of a birthday cake, the staff and students of the Department of Nuclear Reactors at FNSPE CTU prepared guided tours of the reactor hall and a rich public program: lectures on how nuclear technologies work and on their history, as well as an accompanying exhibition and an interactive VR-1 model. A record 205 people visited the reactor hall tours, and the total attendance reached around 250 visitors. Many thanks to everyone who joined us — and especially to the organizers!
