Reflector is important component for the optimal function of nuclear reactors. They improve neutron flux distribution and reduce neutron leakage. Thanks to
them, the ctitical size of core is reduced while the other parameters are unchanged.
The research on this topic was conducted in this work. The thesis contains physical
and technical description of reflectors. Detail description of reflectors used in pressurized water reactors and experiments with reflectors designed for research reactors
is included. Heavy reflector was designed for VR-1 reactor. Results of neutronic
calculation performed in Serpent code are presented including reflector impact on
neutron spectrum, criticality and neutron flux distribution.
