Negative-index metamaterials possess a negative refractive index and thus present an interesting substance for designing uncommon optical effects. This project deals with operators encountered in an operator-theoretic description of metamaterials. Firstly, the operators are derived from quasi-static approximation to Maxwell equations. Later, their properties and spectra are considered in Euclidian space. At the end, we will consider them also on two-dimensional constantly-curved manifolds and compare results to the Euclidian case.
