This bachelor thesis deals with the problem of optimality of honeycombs. Two parts of this problem are outlined and mathematically explained here, namely isoperimetric inequality and paving the plane. The problem is further developed in the spectral theory, of which the most attention is paid to Faber-Krahn inequality.
